Membership Application

Membership in DANCE MASTERS OF WISCONSIN is a recognized distinction of proven ability as a teacher. We are an examination giving organization, governed by a code of strict professional ethics. DMW is a non-profit educational association per section 501c(3) under the Internal Revenue Service code.
We would like to invite qualified applicants to become members of Dance Masters of Wisconsin, Inc.
Dance Masters of Wisconsin, Inc. offers the following benefits to it's members:
  • Four annual workshops: three for teachers, assistants, and students; one for teachers and assistants only.
  • Reduced workshop fees for members and their students.
  • Faculty notes given at each of the four workshops; DVD given at three of the workshops.
  • Scholarships awarded annually to members and students of members aged 13 thru College.
  • A network of professional business contacts in your field.
  • Opportunities to establish new friendships.
  • Information on current and pending legislation affecting dance teachers and studio owners.
  • Membership certificate - A symbol to the public that you have proven your ability to teach dance.
  • Permission to use the DMW name and logo in your studio advertising.
Qualifications for Membership
To become a member it is necessary that:
  • All applicants shall be at least eighteen years of age.
  • All applicants must have taught dance (or taught classes under the supervision of an established teacher) for at least three years.
  • The Prospective Member must file an application with the Organization accompanied by a nonrefundable application fee.
  • Applicants will be required to pass a minimum of two written, demonstrative, and/or oral examinations in the major subjects they teach - Ballet, Tap, Jazz - with a minimum passing grade of 75%. Special consideration shall be made for applicants who can verify they teach only one dance discipline. An appropriate authority appointed by the Examining Committee may examine additional dance disciplines.
  • Applicants must be voted on and accepted by the general membership.
  • Payment of annual dues.
